Xbox Live is an online multiplayer service for games and digital media developed and operated by Microsoft. It was made available in November 2002 for the Xbox system. An updated version of the service for the Xbox 360 console was made available at the beginning of the system in November 2005, and another improved version was launched in 2013 with the Xbox One console.
The Xbox Live service is available both as a free service called Xbox Silver and as a subscription service called Xbox Gold. Most functions, such as online games are limited to the gold service.
Xbox Live Gold is a paid subscription service for the Xbox community. Registration on Xbox Live is free, but apart from the Windows 10 version, regular rates are required to play online and access certain important services.
